Bell times

Our school day is structured around a clear timetable. We have set times for learning sessions, activities and lunch. Understanding the bell times helps students get the most out of each part of the day.

It's important for students to arrive on time each day. If your child is running late, please contact our front office.

Structure of a typical day

8:55 - 9:25 am -   Morning routine - All classes start each day with morning routine. Morning routine builds literacy skills and knowledge while developing schema (background knowledge) to improve writing and reading comprehension.

9:25 - 10:05 am  -  Reading - Students develop the essential skill or knowledge for reading, such as phonological awareness, phonic knowledge, fluency and comprehension.

10:05 - 10:15 am Fruit and fitness break

10:15 - 10:55 am - Writing - Teachers explicitly model writing processes to students. Students learn through worked examples and then practice to mastery. Students learn the 3 types of writing and 10 writing criteria. K-2 students will learn the writing chant and actions that help build declarative knowledge for writing.

10:55 - 11:35 am - Lunch

11:35 - 12:00 pm    Spelling - Students are taught dependable spelling skills, by blending the phonemic, whole-word and morphemic approaches.

12:00 - 1:15  pm - Mathematics - Mathematics is split into two main components; mathematics review and explicit teach. Mathematics review builds fluency in factual knowledge and procedures. Explicit teach builds knew knowledge, skills and understanding.

1:15 - 1:55 pm - Recess

1:55 - 2:55 pm - PD/H/PE, History, Geography, Science, Creative Arts

Additional Activities

Throughout a week students may also attend assemblies, Special Religious Education or non- scripture, library and other extra-curricula activities.
